Let’s start this off with a confession. When I first found out that I was pregnant with my firstborn, I prayed and begged and pleaded with God to give me a girl. I know you’re supposed to pray for a healthy baby, that’s all that matters, and this is true. So I begged him for a healthy baby girl. Not that I didn’t want boys, I definitely did. I’m one of three girls myself, so I wanted the male experience; however, I wanted my girl first. The longing for a human baby doll was real, and oh boy did God deliver!
Fast forward 13 years, and I’m looking at the reflection of myself. Not literally, of course, Farrah is the spitting image of her father, but figuratively she’s what they call my “two bits change.” Besides this idiom, I’ve attained the purest form of friendship. Just like a voodoo priestess conjuring up the unknown I have simply given life to……myself!
We enjoy doing just about everything together. Besides obsessively shopping we can get down with a day in our pj’s lounging on the sofa enjoying movies that I grew up watching. But our interest in taking lengthy drives, consumed by any and every beautiful home in whatever neighborhood we pick that day, is our time most relished.
My girl loves interior design. She has an eye for pretty, and she knows what she likes. So when the time came for her to move out of the room that she shared with her brother and into her own, I was flooded with every possible idea. Let’s keep in mind we’re talking about a 12×12 room.
“ I would like a bench, a new ceiling fan…. No! A chandelier! Well, then again I like to sleep with a ceiling fan on so maybe not. I need a desk and a vanity, you know with lights around the mirror, but don’t worry when we redo the closet we can do a built-in vanity inside of it.” (by the way, the closet is definitely not big enough for that). Needless to say, I’ve got some work to do. In the meantime, I’ll sit back and watch her creative work and try not to obsess like a fangirl.
